The PFA was
founded in 1976 and represents the major manufacturers
and suppliers of branded, power-driven tools and
collated fasteners in the UK. Its role is to
promote the safe use of power fastening tools in the
industries served by its Members.
The PFA contributes
to British, European and International standards through
its expert representation on BSI, CEN and ISO Technical
Committees which establish safety standards for power
tools and fasteners. All PFA Members must meet specific
quality and safety criteria, one of which is to make the
PFA Safety Training Programme available to their
customers.
The products
manufactured and supplied by members include nailing,
stapling and screw-driving tools that are used
principally in the timber-using industries, most notably
the manufacture of:
- Joinery
- Furniture and
bedding
- Pallet & cases
- Garden products –
fencing, sheds and garden furniture
- Construction
(including timber frame manufacturing)
- Caravans and mobile
homes
- Packaging
These tools maximise efficiency and
consistent quality in the construction and assembly of
the above. All members of the Association must provide a
full spares and service back-up.
